Cable Crimping Tools

Crimping is essentially a method for joining electrical cables together in fixed wiring installations. It is highly recommended that before you attempt this you practice this a few times first before trying it for real, you need to make sure that the joints you are creating are mechanically strong.
Should you wish to extend cables by joining them, this is not a recommended method.
Before you attempt this process you are going to need some tools...

Tools Required
To make this type of joint the correct crimping tool will be needed, it should be of good quality to ensure the crimped joint is reliable. An adequate tool will include a ratchet tightening mechanism and be of substantial construction. The ratchet mechanism will ensure that the correct amount of pressure is applied to the crimp.
Most good electrical retailers and tool shops should be able to supply you with a suitable tool.
If you do already own a crimping tool but it is a cheap one without the ratchet mechanism... I can't stress enough how unsuitable these are for the job, it doesn't make ur tool a waste just save it for wire stripping. To ensure the job is done correctly and the crimp is safe it is well worth the cost to purchase a suitable tool.
Along with this tool you will also need a few other basic tools to complete the method successfully, strippers and wire cutters are also a necessity along with some heat shrink tubing (this should be the size of the cable that is to be joined.
